Is Italy good for a City Break?
Ben in Rome
The last
stop on this whirlwind tour of Europe is what you’ve all been waiting for. The
home of Pizza and Aperol, Italia (Italy for the single-lingual of you).
This was the
biggest trip of the 5 where we spent 14 days travelling from north to south
with nothing but the shoes on our back, the clothes on our feet, and a whole
lot of google translate.
City Break - Milan
We started
off in Milan, excited to try the cacio e pepe.
We managed
to get ourselves some tickets to the San Siro where we were blessed with some
Giroud acrobatics and a sing song with the ultras.
I think I
enjoyed it more than the others!
We also took
a day excursion to Lake Como, did you know Star Wars was filmed there...
Anyway, we
managed to get our books out, enjoy an Aperol, and have a dip in the lake.
City Break - Florence
Next stop Florence, super pretty, lots of little streets to explore and many a statue to pose by.
Not
completely to scale I swear!
A bit more expensive than the rest of the cities but would recommend a trip to the Boboli Gardens.
City Break - Rome
Rome was next up!
Sightseeing,
sightseeing, sightseeing.
Colosseum,
check.
Spanish
steps, check.
Trevi
Fountain, check.
Shop that
sounds like my name, check.
Etc etc.
It was unreal
seeing all these sights I’d only seen in pictures and was amazing when we got
to go to the Vatican City.
Just be more
discreet when taking a photo of the Sistine Chapel ceiling, the guards have
tempers.
Rome was also the home of the cheap jugs of Aperol and pizza.
Here’s a photo:
Looks nice doesn’t it.
City Break - Napoli
The last
stop on our tour was Napoli.
With Dean
Martin blasting through the ear drums, we set off to explore.
This was my
favourite stop on the tour.
Again,
unreal pizza, we went to Sorbillos, very tasty.
Loads of
streets to explore and lots n lots of Diego Maradona murals.
We also
managed to get a day trip down to the Amalfi coast in for more photoshoots and
a last paddle before jetting off home.
Overall
rating: 4.7/5
Was great
seeing all the different cities as they all had something new to offer. The
food was phenomenal and I would highly recommend going.
Ciao!
